Fixed Mobile Unified Phone book
The unified phone book service enables subscribers to access their stored mobile contacts from their fixed phone without having to look them up on their mobile handset. The service can work with any type of phone and does not require any hardware or software from the customer.
The services offers their customers the option of making fixed calls, instead of the more expensive mobile calls, by offering them the option of not having to look up the numbers in their mobile phones each time they want to contact someone in their phone book. It also provides a solution to a major revenue leak for fixed communication providers. This is a direct result of the fact that traditional home phone books are becoming obsolete as they are being replaced by the digital phone book installed in mobile devices.
How does it work?
The subscriber's Fixed Mobile unified phone book is stored on the fixed service provider servers. The subscriber accesses the phone book verbally over the phone by speaking the requested contact’s name. The service, using a speech recognition engine locates the requested contact's number and executes the call.
How does your phone book get to the fixed service provider?
After registering to the service, you receive an SMS on your mobile device asking for your approval to activate the service. As soon as you reply "Yes" the service downloads an application to your mobile device which uploads your contacts to the fixed service provider servers.
